Champions ‘Simba’ Takes on Vitalo in CECAFA Kagame Cup Opening

The CECAFA Kagame club Cup 2011 is due to kick off in Tanzanian capital Dar es Salaam on Saturday 25th of June with Tanzania Champions Simba taking on Vitalo of Burundi in the opening match at the Main Stadium at 4PM local time.

CECEFA Secretary General Nichols Musonye said in a press statement here on Tuesday that twelve teams have been grouped in three groups for the two week championship which ends on July 9th. He said that the teams will start arriving in Dar es Salaam Wednesday. CECAFA on Monday concluded a sponsorship package from Tanzania Breweries Ltd.

“Today, CECAFA have finalized with Supersport to show the matches Live from Dar. Preparations for event are virtually complete. CECAFA and TFF have lined up several activities to ensure that the Kagame/Castle cup drives the regional championship to another level,” the statement said.

On Sunday, Yanga of Tanzania will take on former African champions El Mereikh of Sudan in another key match.

According to the fixtures, Somalia’s champions Elman FC will take on Bunamwaya of Uganda in its first match on Monday 27th of June. The competition was due to be held in Sudan, but was later transferred to Tanzania.
