When we heard that Jean Brown would be at the Folsom Quilt and Fiber Guild’s Annual Quilt Show with her Aunt Becky, we wanted to visit these two ladies. The rumour is that Aunt Becky has been doing Jean’s hand quilting for the past 32 years, with no complaints and no pin sticks.
Jean travels all over the US, to quilt shows and classes, setting up displays and giving instruction on hand quilting, and other classes. Aunt Becky is always there too.
Meeting Jean and her husband Dave at the Folsom Quilt show was a great experience. They now live in Newcastle, California after moving back to California from Bend, Oregon. Jean has been very busy over the years, starting seven new guilds.
Talking about Aunt Becky, Jean says she can never miss a stitch on the back of a quilt – ever … any size stitch that you like. Some people like small stitches, tiny, tiny stitches, others like them long. She does a very good job for us quilters.”
We asked Jean to show us how Aunt Becky works tirelessly to create such beautiful hand quilting and we captured it on the video below.
