Cash-strapped Portsmouth FC have been dealt another blow after it was confirmed that former player Sol Campbell is looking to sue them for 1.7 Million pounds.
The aging defender, currently at Arsenal, wants his old club to pay him money he claims he is owed for image rights and bonus payments.
Recently Pompey have struggled to pay their players wages, had a transfer embargo placed on them and their chief executive is expected in court over allegations that he “cheated the public revenue” with a transfer made nearly seven years ago. The club are also struggling at the bottom of the Premiership, have four players away on international duty and may be forced to sell their best and brightest to help them out of this financial crisis.
It is certainly not a good season for Portsmouth and the fears are that there is worse to come.
