Man Utd Beat Liverpool To Go Top, Chelsea Draw Against Blackburn

The weekend Premiership games finished with a bang today as Manchester City grabbed a much needed win and Manchester United moved passed Chelsea.

The opening match of the day was a big one down at Old Trafford as Manchester United met Liverpool. Torres got the ball rolling and surprised the 70+ thousand fans when he headed Liverpool into the lead early on, but Man United’s own superstar, Rooney, put them level by knocking in the rebounded shot from his saved penalty.

Park put his face on the line in the second half when he dived to meet a Fletcher cross and nodded the ball into the net, the winning goal for Manchester United who moved top; awaiting Chelsea’s result against Blackburn later in the day.

Chelsea began well when Drogba cooly slotted in an early goal and it looked like Chelsea would match Manchester United again and stay top, but Blackburn fought back and in the second half Diouf nodded in at the far post to grab a dramatic equalizer. Chelsea fought back and applied the pressure but they didn’t do enough and were forced to settle for a point. Manchester United moved top after todays results whilst Chelsea dropped to third, behind Arsenal.

Manchester City also played today and the Sky Blues enjoyed a 2-1 win away to Fulham. Santa Cruz and Tevez grabbed first half goals for them before Murphy score a late penalty for Fulham.
