Liverpool’s Bad Luck Continues As Three Big Players Bow Out With Injuries

After being knocked out of the FA Cup by Reading the woes of Liverpool continue. Today they announced that Fernando Torres – who picked up a knock in that cup tie – will be out for six weeks. The Spanish striker requires knee surgery on a torn cartilage and will be greatly missed by The Reds who already seem short on strikers.

Steven Gerrard will also be facing a couple of weeks on the sidelines after straining his hamstring in the same match whilst Israeli midfielder Yossi Benayoun is looking at a month out due to a fractured rib.

Liverpool will certainly need to be busy in this transfer window if they are to replace these three star players and find their form – which has been lacking this season. They are now out of all competitions and can only hope for a top four finish in the Premiership. Bookmakers have taken note of their misfortunes and as of this morning they were offering odds of 4/1 for gaffer Rafa Benitez to lose his job before their next league game against Stoke.
