Brian Laws to Take Over At Burnley

The small but ambitious Burnley FC are set to unveil Brian Laws as their new manager within twenty-four hours. The club recently lost boss of three years Owen Coyle – who moved into the vacant position at Bolton Wanderers. Coyle took the club to the Premiership for the first time in thirty-three years and made a good start to the season, but after Bolton sacked their manager Gary Megson they set their sights on Owen Coyle, and the former Burnley man didn’t hesitate in making the switch.

Brian Laws had a poor time at his last job when managing Sheffield Wednesday, sending the club to the bottom end of the table before leaving by “mutual consent”, but he does have some minor experience. As a player he won two League Cups and one FA Cup with Nottingham Forest and after a brief managerial stint at Grimbsy Town he enjoyed many years at Scunthorpe United, winning the Division Three Play-off’s and finishing second in League Two.

Laws began his playing career at Burnley and admits to an “affinity” with the club, but his lack of top-tier managerial experience makes him a surprise choice for this job.
