Will Oprah’s Words Work for Obama in Mississippi?

Perhaps it is not widely known that Oprah is a Mississippi girl. Yes, she was born in Kosciusko, Mississippi, January 29, 1954. In fact, Oprah was born and raised just 40 miles from the infamous Philadelphia, MS where three young men were kidnapped and murdered by Neshoba County red-neck racists in 1964. Oprah was just 10 years old when these horrible murders took place– she was helpless. Now, she may be in a position to sway the hearts of her hometown and home State. The Mississippi Presidential Primary is happening today.

It’s difficult to say how the State will swing. To this day, race touches everything in Mississippi; it will be interesting to see if they detest Hillary enough to vote for an American black man.

Of course, if Mississippians love you enough, they don’t see the color of your skin. Mammy, remember? Perhaps the adoration the average Mississippi housewife holds for Oprah will wash over Obama and break the bonds of black vs. white in a State where KKK credentials have been carried in wallets right next to pictures of grandchildren.

Whether the scale will be tipped by love for Oprah rather than disdain felt for the Clintons will be hard to measure. The fact that Bill thinks he can run around Mississippi trying to persuade anyone to do anything is the great mystery. He and Hillary are blind to truth, history and, obviously, the obvious. They defy the axiom offered by President Lincoln, “You can fool some of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.”

The world remembers the horror of Mississippi during the Civil Rights movement. Murder, church burnings and lynching were practiced as easily as the “N” word rolled off the tongues of preachers and preacher’s wives. It was a horrible place where both blacks, Choctaw Indians and, yes, women were treated less than human. The white man ruled Mississippi.

Now, the Democrat white man from Mississippi must make a choice: Obama or Hillary. At the end of the day, there’s not a red-blooded, white, Mississippi Democrat man who can vote for Hillary– he will vote for anyone but Hillary. In the State said to have four eyes yet still cannot see, that passes for progress and will give Oprah and Obama the victory.
