In another show of disrespect for American citizens, U.S. officials, through obvious encouragement from the White House, released a stunning statement Monday. Another 15 inmates from the Guantanamo Bay prison in Cuba were transferred to the United Arab Emirates. Ignoring public outcries to the wholesale release of once-considered murdering terrorists, apparently they have now learned their lesson. U.S. Foreign Policy seems to have gone off the rails.
It is the single largest transfer of Guantanamo detainees during President Barack Obama’s administration. In an obvious political move to bolster his “legacy” with the far-left progressives, it is further maniacal insanity of White House policy to close the naval base prison 90-miles from American soil.
A total of 12 Yemeni and three Afghan citizens reduce the prison population to 61. Most have been considered dangerous terrorists who have been held without charge or trial for more than a decade, drawing “international condemnation.” Who would that be, Great Britain, Germany, and Japan? Apparently Obama the globalist is paying more attention to international concerns, whatever and whoever that is defined as, than the national security of the United States.
Obama failed in his hope to close the prison during his first year in office. Congress and the American people overwhelmingly stopped the politically-driven politics of big money contributors, the far left progressives, led by former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco and Nevada Sen. Harry Reid.
Obama rolled out his plan in February, aimed at shutting down the facility forever. Again, oblivious of strong opposition from many Republican lawmakers and fellow Democrats, the president continues his pattern of weakening the national security of America. Who can forget his order, without congressional approval (surprise!), of five Taliban high-ranking officers in exchange for one accused AWOL Army private named Beau Bergdahl, now under confinement at the Federal Penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kansas.
Reportedly, previously released terrorists who killed Americans, have returned to the battlefield to kill more Americans. This the definition of insanity. It should be noted that none other than former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave her official approval to those previous releases.
Mercifully, Obama’s illiterate plan to bring several dozen remaining prisoners to maximum-security prisons in the United States, has somehow stopped the world-first president in some way, maybe by threat of impeachment. It hasn’t been necessary at this time for another Supreme Court decision overwhelmingly overruling another illegal and unconstitutional executive action. His allies who advocate the prisoner releases include none other than Naureen Shah, Amnesty International’s U.S. director for security and human rights. Well then, better open the gates, America.
Shah said, “I think we are at an extremely dangerous point where there is a significant possibility this is going to remain open as a permanent offshore prison to hold people, practically until they die.” This saddens Mr. Shah. Furthermore, Obama’s “America-first” ally says keeping Guantanamo open gives cover to foreign governments to ignore international human rights. Huh?
Well Naureem, one of the detainees you fret over, and had been transferred, is an Afghan national, identified as Obaidullah, who spent more than 13-years at Guantanamo. He stood accused of hiding and storing mines to be used against American forces in Afghanistan. That’s right U.S. citizens, our American brethren.
Just whose side is this president on?
Isn’t it his oath to protect the security of the United States and its legal citizens? That most definitely part of the oath of office administered by the Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, or did Obama issue an executive order on that “silly tradition.”
The impartial, America-first State Department special envoy for closing the Guantanamo detention center; somebody named Lee Wolosky, said “The continued operation of the detention facility weakens our national security by draining resources, damaging our relationships with key allies and partners, and emboldening violent extremists.” What relationships is he talking about, our NATO allies, who Lee pointed out the example was that close and protective “ally,” the United Arab Emirates.
Apparently the UAE holds more say over our foreign policy, first under Hillary Clinton and now John Kerry, than the interests and security of this country. Good example Lee, whoever the hell you are. Meanwhile, another faceless bureaucrat at the U.S. State Department, and an employee of the American taxpayer, naturally speaking on condition of anonymity said the UAE had “resettled” five detainees transferred in November 2015.
Okay mystery official, can you tell Americans where they are now? I thought not. That would require an investigation by people like Lee Wolosky and Naureem Shah who know whats best for this country’s safety in terms of wacko political thinking of the highest order.
