Voters expecting a rematch between Barack Obama and Sarah Palin are going to disappointed, as the former Alaska governor made the decision to not run for the 2012 Presidential election.
On Wednesday, ABC News said a letter written by her supporters that cited putting her family first was the main reason for not running for a second time.
This breaking news came around the same time that New Jersey governor Chris Christie also chose to not enter next year’s election race.
Palin became a household name during the 2008 elections as the first woman to ever run for the White House. She quickly became a pop culture staple thanks to Saturday Night Live (SNL), as Tina Fey’s dead-on impersonation of her gave the sketch comedy its highest ratings – winning Fey the 2009 Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy.
After her 2008 campaign, Palin’s 15 minutes of fame increased as a best-selling author, a correspondent for Fox News, and most recently Sarah Palin’s Alaska on cable network TLC; it only lasted one season.
