Howard Schultz Would Spell Disaster for Democrats

Should former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz enter the presidential race as an independent, the Democrats are virtually doomed. A new poll conducted by Optimus shows that the addition of the multi-billionaire to the 2020 field benefits President Trump across the board.

What was interesting is the head-to-head numbers against four major Democrat candidates. In every scenario, Schultz pulled support away from the Party to aid the President. No wonder the announced Democratic candidates are crying foul.

The truth of the poll is the fact that Schultz’s addition widened the lead Trump had over every major Democrat figure. Well, there was one exception. Former Vice President Joe Biden leads Trump and retains that lead when Schultz is factored in.

Democrats Moving Left

As for the other announced candidates with any chance at all, Kamala Harris, Beto O’Rourke and Elizabeth Warren are down for the count with the Schultz factor added to the fray.

The left has lost their minds over Schultz’s interest in running as an independent. The extremes have been spewing in Schultz’s direction since he hinted at a possible 2020 campaign. They loved Ross Perot’s independent candidacy in 1992, which enabled Bill Clinton to beat incumbent George H.W. Bush, but this is very different. It hurts them.

Howard Shultz a Game Changer

This new poll certainly suggests Schultz will be a game changer. There is real moderate support for a third candidate. That can be attributed to Trump’s polarizing tactics. But it is clear Schultz will pull more Democrats to his candidacy than Republicans.

He could be powerful as an independent on the ballot. As for Schultz’s view, he said, “I respect the Democratic Party.” He continued, “I no longer feel affiliated because I don’t know their views represent the majority of Americans.”

Meanwhile, Trump is baiting Schultz to run. He said last week, “Howard Schultz doesn’t have the guts to run for President!” The Democrats better pray the president is right.
