Spc. Mabour Atem, Sgt. David Bokor and Spc. Nicholas Morgan 1st Platoon, Troop C, 2nd Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Task Force Iron, from Fort Lewis, Wash., return fire at al Qaeda in Iraq operatives firing at them from trees near an insurgent safehouse south of Hussein Hamadi village, Diyala Province, Iraq, Oct. 29 during Operation Ultra Magnus. Earlier the troops working side by side with the Iraqis, cleared the village of al Qaeda, and an Apache helicopter working with the Soldiers spotted someone fleeing the village to the safehouse. When the Soldiers arrived at the home, a fierce, 20-minute gun battle ensured. Four AQI operatives were killed and a fifth was wounded. No Coalition Forces were harmed during any phase of the three-day operation.
