Care2 Lives By The Belief That One Person – Can Make a Difference

Like the original and upcoming versions of the NBC series, Knight Rider, Care2 lives by the belief that one person – man or woman – can make a difference. Created out of his apartment by Randy Paynter and partners Matt McGlynn (now chief technology officer) and Camilla Erickson (now vice president of electronic cards) in September 1998, it gives people the opportunity to get involved in working for the benefit of others as well as the entire world.

Randy is now President and CEO of Care2. “As a 13-year-old boy, I traveled with my father in a thatch-covered boat up the awe-inspiring Amazon. My father studied Latin American birds, while I marveled at the rich wildlife, lush vegetation and fascinating people we encountered deep in the jungle.

“Care2 provides powerful tools to make a difference in your life, community, country, and the world. It’s driven by passionate people (just like you) who want to restore the world’s balance.”

Almost a decade since it hit the World Wide Web, Care2 now has 50 employees, eight million members that include Newsblaze Editors Judyth Piazza and Alan Gray; and contributors that include 250 non-profit organizations and hundreds of advertisers.

Whether advocating for civil rights or speaking passionately on the environment, Care2 gives people the chance to put their abilities to good use in both fighting the good fight for others and “making powerful, positive changes in our world.”

“One simple truth stuck with me: The world is terribly out of balance” Randy said. “From that truth, an overwhelming desire to make a difference was born. I realized that the power to make a positive change in the world was written within each of us.”
