California Gets New Deal for Healthy Eating

What started as a fundraiser for school garden and nutrition programs just two year ago, CSA California has become a way of life for many in the Los Angeles area. Farmers originally created CSA’s (Community Supported Agriculture) as a way to connect to the community by offering shares in the harvest, and opportunities to be part of a farm. One of the most innovative leaders of the CSA movement in California- Sara Paul, is co-founder of CSA California, and helped revolutionize the CSA model, giving the people of Los Angeles a more flexible, affordable way to connect to their local growers.

With dozens of pick-up locations around the city, CSA California members can now participate on a weekly or bi-monthly basis. CSA California also offers its members discounts to classes and events, and shares weekly recipes and news related to food security and community issues. All of the CSA California produce is local, and organic.

CSA California members can even meet many of the farmers that CSA California services at many of the markets around Los Angeles. $2 from every bag sold from CSA California goes to benefit school garden programs. The mission of CSA California is to connect the community, support sustainable agriculture and lifestyle, and promote health, wellness, and the healing arts.
