Where oh where has Kathleen Sebelius gone? Oh where oh where can she be?
Kathleen Sebelius is definitely the ‘poster child’ for all that is wrong with Obamacare. People who already had insurance but lost it, people whose insurance costs have skyrocketed, people who lost access to their trusted doctors are but a few who are after Secretary Sebelius’ head. Congressional Republicans have beed frustrated with her insability to tell them anything useful about the Obamacare program’s ills, and they’ve asked for her to be fired, on more than one occasion. President Obama has ignored their calls and never even mentioned the possibility of firing her.
At the most recent White House press conference to discuss Obamacare’s enrollment numbers, Secretary Sebelius didn’t show up. Even the White House press corps couldn’t locate her. Before the press conference, The White House reaffirmed support for her but she never arrived. Some suggested a pink slip might have arrived on her desk.
We know what happens to communist leaders when their time is up – they simply disappear.
Could that be the case here?
After the terrible Obamacare launch, Republicans were calling for Sebelius’s head, a standard opposition tactic, no matter which party is the minority. Republican Rep. Darrell Issa said the Obamacare website, HealthCare.gov was “a disaster,” but that was ignored by The White House.
Politico even called her House testimony “false,” and she was the fall guy for all those cowering behind desks, including president Obama.
Sebelius was the ideal high profile scapegoat.
This was not the first time Sebelius was a no-show at something important related to Obamacare. In Octonber last year, it was reported that she would not testify at a congressional hearing into breakdowns in the program’s rollout. That time, they cited a scheduling conflict. Republicans were not happy with that.
This time, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters they shouldn’t count their chickens before they hatch. He said the President “has confidence” in Sebelius.
Carney, the master of obfuscation, continued with remarks so bizarre, that you might think he was smoking something that was very bad for him. “I think you’re obsessing on something that I promise you needs no obsession. Say my name, say my name, you actin’ kinda shady, why the sudden change?”
Sebelius is probably still in the job, because a few days have passed and she is still issuing press releases, such as the one on Medicaid expansion, two days ago.
