Jewish Alzheimer and 2012 Election

“The sons of Judah have to choose that God may again choose them. The divine principle of our race is action, choice, resolved memory.” George Eliot

My fellow Jews never cease to amaze me. Their serious lack of memory is historic and, of course, chronicled numerous times in the Bible.

I don’t believe I have to point out that whole Golden Calf fiasco do I? Good, it’s best left unmentioned. Or not?

The Jewish people seem to suffer memory loss on a regular basis.

I wonder if the first sufferer of dementia was a Jewish man that couldn’t remember his anniversary and was ultimately in a perpetual state of battle with his wife. No excuses here, even the Romans had calendars.

Although seemingly benign, this loss of memory can be deadly on a global scale, and especially when an entire culture and people are suffering such memory loss in tandem.

The closer we get to the 2012 election, the more I am hearing rumbles about Jewish support for Obama.

From friends expressing wonder at the others they know who still remain in Obama’s camp.

Hollywood Jews don’t surprise me at all. Their contributions to a man who finally encompasses all their leftist leanings is perfectly understandable and of course, Hollywood is no example of how Jewish people, or any humans for that matter, should think or live their lives.

There is a secretive new movement, or shall I say underground, creeping through tinsel town of course. Born again Conservatives who have been forced to come out of hiding to counter the leftist propaganda and financial support Obama receives so handily in LaLaLand. His financial supporters have seen the inside of trendy Beverly Hills restaurants more than any restaurant reviewer.

I do understand the fears Hollyweird possess about a Republican. Since they buy into the hype about Conservatives and see them as a dire threat to their liberal lifestyles, politics, and counter culture of sex, drugs and rock and roll, it is of course logical they would fear such a change in government.

Especially when it has taken so many years to put a lefty in the White House.

Joe McCarthy and Roy Cohn must be spinning in their graves.

But Hollywierd aside, what about the average Jewish American?

What’s their excuse for their blatant disregard for Obama’s callus and anti-Semitic treatment of Israel?

Or his obvious agenda to destroy the Jewish State and empower its enemies?

What could they be thinking? Better to ask perhaps, can they think at all?

One question at a time.

The latest Gallup poll shows that Jewish support for Obama is indeed down from the last election. One recent poll showed 60% support down from 83 when he first took office.

Of course this reflects the loss of support among the general electorate. Jews own businesses and have job issues, too. And I suppose one might interpret this small lessening of support as a positive thing for the Jewish people.

Pardon me if I am not doing cartwheels over this information. Although I believe one should see a glass as half full, this cannot be spun as a win for our people.

Sixty percent! Are you kidding me?

Who are these idiots?

Are they brain damaged? Did Gallup go to an insane asylum to take a poll?

Does corned beef infect one’s brain’s cells?

Are they senile and perhaps without any memory of recent events?

There must be some way to explain why 60% of Jewish people would even entertain voting for a man who wants to destroy them.

Oh, I forgot, we’re talking about Jewish people here. Now I get it. The people with serious memory loss on a consistent basis.

Come on, he’s the president who has attempted to destroy the Jewish state since he took office. You remember?

Oh, you don’t.

What’s that you say? He’s only trying to help Israel by helping the peace process.

I suppose he does have to justify that whole Nobel Peace Prize joke after all.

Odd isn’t it, that since he became president, the world is actually far less peaceful now. The entire Muslim world is in turmoil and Iran is about twenty minutes away from a nuclear bomb.

Yep, that peace prize was well deserved all right. The only other person they might have given it to who could equal his peace-making prowess would be Syria’s president Assad. Now there’s a guy with real potential as a peacemaker. In Syria either you lie down and roll over or the army pushes you down and rolls over you.

The world is a joke. It’s one big Mel Brooks extravaganza and yet, the Jews aren’t laughing. We are voting to keep a man in office who obviously despises and disregards us.

Loss of memory perhaps?

Nope, too simple; that is letting our people off the hook way too easily.

Jewish people in their own sick way must play the fool. They must believe they are righteous and socialistic, and care about their fellow man.

After all wasn’t Karl Marx Jewish?

Weren’t Saul Alinsky and all the great socialists?

Let’s do a little exercise to improve our memories of Obama’s attitude toward Israel and the Jews.

Netanyahu’s first visit to the White House when he was taken in through the back door and kept waiting like someone on a job interview while Obama had dinner.

Hillary Clinton’s constant insistence Israel stop building homes in its own country.

Obama’s refusal to condemn terrorists that murder Israelis in their homes.

His indifference and half-hearted slap on the wrist of the Palestinian Authority’s pact with Hamas.

His denial about Iran’s threats against Israel.

Publically dissing Netanyahu and suggesting Israel return to an indefensible position.

If Obama would come out so blatantly against Israel when he needs Jewish money for his campaign, what does that say about his arrogance and knowledge that the Jewish people will throw money at him whatever he does with Israel?

And on and on and on ad nauseum.

What is the problem with the Jewish people?

They can’t tell their friends from their enemies.

They believe that just because Obama is anti-Israel he is still a good left-wing American president.

We are willing to sell our own people out for ideological beliefs.

Must I continue?

Israel should have realized by now they are on their own and American Jews no longer care. Too many have joined the dark side where Israel is concerned. Their mantra of “Yes, I care about Israel, but…” is just a way to disguise the fact they are pro Palestinian.

You can’t be a little bit pregnant. You can’t be a little in favor of death camps, or of a Hamas Charter that calls for the destruction of Israel and the death of every Jew everywhere on earth.

Jewish people just wanna be loved.

Well get over it! (The facial slap is implied here).

Any shrink will tell you the basics-no one will love you until you love yourself.

Haven’t we taken this whole Jewish guilt thing too far?

Isn’t it time for a little self-love for the sake of our children and our grandchildren?

Isn’t all this self hate, guilt and self loathing oh so nineties?

In 2012 the Jewish people have the perfect opportunity to show the world they will not financially, or with their vote, support their enemies.

Can we do it?

Do we have the guts?

This may be the last time we have a chance to find out. If Obama is reelected nothing will stop him from destroying Israel.

Hope the Jewish memory improves enough by then to even remember Israel, after its long gone once and for all time.

In the series “Postcards from Israel,” Ari Bussel and Norma Zager invite readers throughout the world to join them as they present reports from Israel as seen by two sets of eyes: Bussel’s on the ground, Zager’s counterpoint from home.

Israel and the United States are interrelated – the two countries we hold dearest to our hearts – and so is this “point – counterpoint” presentation that has, since 2008, become part of our lives.
