Is China Rising as World Power in 21st Century?

In the 1930s, Germany and Japan started a military build-up. The U.S. failed to notice or failed to match them. Just as part of the problem on 9/11 was a failure of imagination, there was a failure of imagination then.

The inexperienced Obama Administration ignored what has been going on in China since 2009. I a single generation, they have exploded as a world power.

It isn’t as though there were no warnings. The warnings were ignored, and the power of the US Military was been squandered, first by Bush and even worse now by Obama.

In 2007, NewsBlaze writer, Rahul K. Bhonsle wrote China’s 100 Year Vision of Greatness, about what was happening at the time. In that story, he said:

“The Economist in a lead article in the 29th May issue contends that, ‘China’s goodwill extends only so far as its interests are not affected,’ therefore sceptics are wary of repeated assertions by Beijing of a peaceful rise. None the less clear identification of the first two decades up to 2020 as a period of strategic opportunity for growth by China as no major conflicts are predicated which could hinder development should provide some pointers. The Chinese plan to exploit this period for internal growth and make up intrinsic deficiencies through external acquisitions of energy and natural resources. The Chinese are fortunate to be excluded from the threat of terrorism and are perhaps the only major global power free from the same, the small scale uprising in Xingjian not withstanding. What happens after 2020 may perhaps depend on Chinese evaluation of comprehensive national power. Continued isolation or aggressive political engagement will be denoted by pragmatic evaluation by the leadership in Beijing by then.”

Bhonsle also wrote Chinese Technology Development Plans.

China has expanded their military in Southeast Asia and the Pacific, even though their economy is slowing a little, they are a world power with a booming economy. China is more than a power to be reckoned with, they are soon to be a second superpower.

China may be a communist country, and they may have massive poverty, but there are some things they do better than anyone else, especially the U.S. They have a long-term viewpoint and a long-term strategy, whereas the U.S. has lost the plot and only has a short term view, to the next quarterly report or the next election.

There are a lot of things to worry about, but people are distracted by celebrity antics and the next ball game.

The list of things that should worry Americans about China’s rise to world prominence is huge. Here are just 18 items to note.

  • For all imports and exports, China is the #1 trading nation on the planet
  • Overall, the U.S. has run a trade deficit with China over the past decade, more than 2.3 trillion dollars
  • China has more foreign currency reserves than anyone else on the planet
  • China now has the largest new car market in the world
  • China now produces more than twice as many automobiles as the United States
  • After being bailed out by U.S. taxpayers, GM is involved in 11 joint ventures with Chinese companies
  • China is the number one gold producer in the world
  • The uniforms for the U.S. Olympic team were made in China
  • 85% of all artificial Christmas trees the world over are made in China
  • The new World Trade Center tower in New York is going to include glass imported from China
  • China now consumes more energy than the United States
  • China is now in aggregate the leading manufacturer of goods in the world
  • China uses more cement than the rest of the world combined
  • China is now the number one producer of wind and solar power
  • China produces 3 times as much coal and 11 times as much steel as the United States
  • China produces more than 90 percent of the global supply of rare earth elements
  • China is now the number one supplier of components that are critical to the operation of any national defense system
  • In published scientific research articles, China is soon expected to become number one in the world
  • Americans may consider Obamacare and our economy and jobs the main focus of this year’s midterms, but the growing cloud of Communist China’s world influence will be with us forever.
