Donald Trump Engaged in Bitter Feud With Univision

Donald Trump is no stranger to ruffling feathers. As he pursues his goal of becoming the GOP nominee for president, his position on illegal immigration has illegal immigration backers up in arms.

The Donald’s comments on illegal immigrants during his opening speech went far beyond the walls of the room he was standing in at the time. Fox News reported that Trump’s comments have started a bitter feud the between himself and Univision, the Spanish-language media company.

Trump sent a letter to Randy Falco, Univision Communications Inc. President, saying, “Dear Randy, Please be advised that under no circumstances is any officer or representative of Univision allowed to use Trump National Doral, Miami, its golf courses or any of its facilities.”

Invoking the symbolism of closing the US-Mexico border, the border between Trump greens and the nearby Univision office is also closed. His letter continutes, “Also, please immediately stop work and close the gate which is being constructed between our respective properties. If this is not done within one week, we will close it.”

Trump says he will end the drain of American jobs going south of the border, if he becomes president.

He concluded his correspondence with “Please congratulate your Mexican government officials for having made such outstanding trade deals with the United States. However, inform them that should I become president, those days are over. We are bringing jobs back to the U.S. Also, a meaningful border will be immediately created, not the laughingstock that currently exists.”

Univision responded to the letter, telling Politico that Trump has banned their company staff from staying at any Trump properties “while on company business,” and from holding events or activities there.

Univision Started It

Univision started this fight by announcing it would cut ties with Trump’s Miss Universe Organization, refusing to air a planned Miss USA simulcast. This was a response to remarks Trump made about Mexico. Obviously, they had a contract – a five-year contract – for Univision to co-host the pageant.

Donald Trump is not the only one who can stir up a media storm. Now Univision’s president is pushing the envelope too. He posted a picture comparing Trump to Charleston, S.C., race-hate shooter Dylann Roof, the Washington Free Beacon reports.

That was just a step too far, and the executive has now apologized. Predictably, Donald Trump refused to accept the apology, Fox News reports.

Now it is getting silly.

On Friday, Trump posted a hand-written letter on Instagram. That letter was from Jorge Ramos, top Univision anchor. Then he posted Ramos’ personal cell phone number, according to Fox News.

Where this will end is uncertain, but Donald knows how to drag out anything that keeps him in the news. This could continue for some time.
