Crossfire War – Russia Establishes Strategic Partnership with Armenia

Crossfire War – MOSCOW – YEREVAN WATCH – South Caucasus Theatre: Moscow – Berlin – Washington – Yerevan – Tskhinvili – Sukhumi/Tbilisi – Ankara – Tehran; Russia Establishes Military Base – Strategic Partnership with Armenia – Target – Georgia – Turkey – Iran

Night Watch: YEREVAN – Moscow has established another angle of attack against security threats from the South Caucasus, Georgia-Turkey-Iran, as a result of a security agreement with Yerevan, the government in Armenia.

As Moscow completed withdrawing its units from its base in Georgia, it was in the process of forming a strategic partnership with Yerevan for the use of the Gyumri base. Gyumri is south of Georgia, just east of Turkey’s border and extremely close to Iran’s north.

I suspect Gymuri will also be available for use by Allied aircraft from Germany or the U. S.

Xinhua quoted Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov, “The presence of a base here is an element of strategic partnership … I believe Armenia is our strategic partner. This is not measured only by a military factor, but also by hundreds and thousands of years of ties and our common history and culture.” [XINHUA]

The Caucasus-Caspian region, a crossroads of energy resources and pipelines is the deciding front of the war. Only military reverses here will convince Tehran to enter serious negotiations to end the war. If Moscow’s initial offensives are effective enough, and with adequate Allied support, its possible before this year is over those negotiations will begin.

Russia already sent some military equipment to Georgiato Gyumri.

This is a good move for Armenia, because it may prevent an attack by Turkey. Some say any alliance with Russia is a threat to a country’s sovereignty.
