Night Watch: VILSECK – Berlin and Washington must have realized the implications of reports that Serbia was arming self-defence groups, and that every Serbian leader has denounced any agreement leading to independence for Kosovo. That view was probably confirmed by the recent visit to Washington of Serbia’s President in which they came to no agreement whatsover. [IRNA]
As a result Berlin has had the Pentagon station its newest rapid reaction unit, the 2nd Stryker Calvary Regiment, at its new base near Vilseck in southern Germany. Fighting could easily resume in the former Yugoslavia before this year is over and with Tehran-Ankara in obvious support of Belgrade. It will be a small indication of Tehran’s displeasure with the West and their interest in Iran’s nuclear weapons program.
