Night Watch: PERSIAN GULF – RIA reports Tehran has begun its fourth military maneuvers since the start of the year. Naval exercises are now being held in the Persian Gulf to test equipment manufactured in Iran. For the past ten years, Tehran has engaged in a serious naval expansion in preparation for this war. Iran’s naval commander Admiral Sajjad Kouchaki stated, “The Navy will demonstrate its defense capability and test Iranian-produced weaponry during the current exercises.” The maneuvers are scheduled to end March 30 and involve missile boats, submarines and combat aircraft. Analysts have observed Iran’s navy specializes in asymmetric warfare; employing small craft with very little technology coupled with submarines and now missile boats. Lightly armed vessels but highly maneuverable and more suited for fighting in confined areas like the Strait of Hormuz. Since Iran’s navy is operating right off their coast it enables them to have air support. Currently, Iran is practicing close-in, standoff attacks against Allied naval forces in the Persian Gulf. These maneuvers are not defensive. Tehran knows the lost alliance; London-Washington is in a state of operational paralysis due to the action in Iraq.
