Crossfire War – TEHRAN – BAGHDAD – RIYADH WATCH – West Asia Theatre: Tehran – Riyadh – Ankara – Damascus – Baghdad/London – Washington; “Targeted Assassination” – Process of Elimination – Iran Removes Two Shi’ite Obstacles – Governor and Police Chief of Qadisiyah Province – London – Washington With No Government to Defend
Night Watch: AAJAF – The day after Iraq Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki returns from Tehran, Iran assassinates two Shi’ite obstacles to Iran’s influence in the country. Jasim Azawi, Al Jazeera’s presenter of Inside Iraq accurately described it as a “targeted assassination” as the two officials’ convoy was hit by 10 IED’s (improvised explosive devices). The officials were based in Qadisiyah province in the south of the country. Of course al-Maliki was informed this was going to happen to not only remove two obstacles to Iran’s influence in the country but to gradually destroy al-Maliki’s administration, which means London-Washington have no government to work with and defend. [ALJAZEERA]
Reuters reports the two leading officials were Governor Khalil Jalil Hamza and Police Chief Major-General Khaled Hassan, both members of the Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council (SIIC), the largest Shi’ite political party in the country. The SIIC’s armed wing, the Badr Organization, has been in conflict with the Mehdi Army of Shi’ite Cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, the favored representative of Tehran. The elimination of these two officials definitely strengthens al-Sadr’s position in the south and in the capital Baghdad. [SWISSINFO]
It is also being reported attacks against the UK/US occupation could increase later this month and into September. Occupation officers have noticed that new rocket launchers and mortars are being used against them. I have long suspected Tehran wants fighting to erupt very heavily on a number of fronts and theatres simultaneously to divide and confuse the Allied effort.
