Crossfire War – Georgia Iran to Expand Fields of Cooperation – Field of Battle

Crossfire War – TEHRAN WATCH – South Caucasus Theatre: Tehran – Tbilisi – Ankara/Moscow – Berlin – Washington; Georgia PM Scheduled to Visit Iran January 22-23 – Relations to be Increased in All Fields Including Field of Battle – Tbilisi in Tehran Sphere of Influence

Night Watch: TEHRAN – Caucasus Press has just reported Georgia Prime Minister Zurab Noghaideli is scheduled to visit Tehran on January 22 -23, with an entourage designed to increase relations between the two governments in all fields. That means also in the field of battle. Tbilisi’s military confrontation and standoff with Moscow began last year and could erupt into all out fighting at any moment, especially since crossfirewar.com reported recently the airlifting of hundreds of pounds of enriched uranium from an airfield near Dresden to a nuclear facility south of Moscow. Before the shipment took off, 400 police officers had escorted it. [IRNA]

Though most of Tehran’s war effort is not directed at Moscow, Iran wants Russia to be defeated in the South Caucasus as they were in 1994-96. Georgia is much more heavily armed than the Islamic units in Chechnya and Dagestan ever were. Fighting in the North Caucasus has virtually ended having resumed when Islamic units invaded Dagestan August 1999 with direct support from Tehran and quite possibly Ankara. 1999 was the first year Vladimir Putin began to emerge as Russia’s new head of state and with official support from the serious industrial concerns in Berlin and they require easy access to raw materials from the Caucasus-Caspian region. Germany has long been the main source of Russia’s hard currency, which Moscow derives by guaranteeing supplies of such material.

But with Russia having made serious economic and military reforms under President Vladimir Putin, and with direct Allied military-logistical-operational support from Berlin-Washington, Russia should be nearly ready to defeat any military axis cooperation between Tehran-Tbilisi-Ankara.
