The demoralized Republicans in my state have been whipped by Democratic politicians for some time, so now the Republicans have decided to respond in kind this coming November. Looks like another shut out of Independents as usual.
The San Francisco Chronicle today (7/8/) published an editorial attacking the government of the State of Arizona when the editors should be attacking California Senators and the Leader of the House of Representatives for failing to come to the aid of the legal residents in Arizona.
Foolishly quoting the U.S. Attorney General, Eric Holder, the editors of the Chronicle have exposed themselves to the ridicule of thinking Americans who are aware of the lax attitude of the feds in policing our borders. Democrat Holder said, “Diverting federal resources away from dangerous aliens such as terrorist suspects and aliens with criminal records will impact the entire country’s safety.” Does anyone believe that rhetoric?
Have the normally responsible editors of the Chronicle forgotten how many thousands of illegal immigrants are in jail in this state costing California taxpayers upwards of $30,000 per year (the estimated cost per annum reported by the Chronicle) to incarcerate them rather than send them packing. Have the editors overlooked the billions of dollars the U.S. government is spending in failed military efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan in pursuing “regime change” and “nation building?” Has the publisher endorsed the federal’s government’s laxity in establishing a sound policy to preclude illegal immigrants from coming to the U.S. peddling drugs, exporting hard currency, and fomenting insurrection (taking back this state that belongs to Mexico)?
When does this newspaper anticipate Congress will pass a bill that implements a “comprehensive and rational federal immigration system?” What is “comprehensive” when the state officials, hospital administrators, and public school teachers cannot “rat out’ illegal immigrants today? San Francisco is a “safe house” for illegal aliens. What is “irrational” about asking a loiterer for identification who is standing around on the corner hoping for a job offer from a passer-by? In this country a legitimate foreign passport with a valid visa is the recognized I.D. That law is enforced only in ports of entry.
What is the crime the State of Arizona has committed that is wasting the time and money of the attorney general and the courts of the U.S. in suing the State of Arizona? Are there no state rights left in America today? Is it wrong to call the attention of the public to the inefficient, ineffective, and deliberately inactive federal government who is wasting men, munitions, and money in pursuing Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda overseas?
What is the “isolation” that the governor of Arizona is “inflicting upon her state?” Don’t the manipulators of the news via SFGate and the SF Chronicle understand that there are millions of legal American citizens and legal aliens who support the position of Governor Brewer. What does the Chronicle say about the words from the President of Mexico who blames us and our drug habit for the invasion of illegal drugs and the illegal immigrants who work as mules to import them? Why aren’t the feds doing more these days to pursue the “war on drugs?”
Why? Because despite the huge federal deficit, they don’t have the money and the inclination to do more than release sound bites like the one quoted above from the attorney general. Hide behind the “supremacy clause” if you want to, Mr. Attorney General. What other recourse does a state have – local militias? The federal government isn’t going to do anything before elections in November to cure the illegal immigration problem. The stepped-up efforts of the Obama administration to deport illegal immigrants have been loudly criticized by Latino activists.
What can be done here if one border state doesn’t pick up the flag and shout loudly, “Enough is enough!” Please look at the bigger picture: the cost of not taking action and the cost to the poor who are streaming here hoping to be treated humanely because they have heard the rumors.
“Please get your acts together in Washington finally!” is all we independent Americans ask of those who rather talk about something and do nothing! Eric Holder do your job!!
