Ludhiana, Polluted Water-Ludhiana in Troubled Waters

The issue ‘Ludhiana in troubled waters’ SUNDAY SPECIAL – ‘Polluted Water highlighted before the Panel identifying the units polluting Buddha Nullah and also forwarded for information and necessary action to the higher authorities, I felt encouraged by the report.

It goes to the credit of the ‘Indian Express’ newspaper, to bring the special report to us, though its net result may prove only beneficial for those who want to monitor progress and to see work done on the project. It may end without much of a positive result if effective remedial action is not undertaken immediately.

Such projects in the end, always lead to corruption, without any adequate, meaningful action to check the menace of water pollution, as experienced by the citizens. I do not underestimate the knowledge of the Panel members and the awareness of authorities as the bureaucracy is well experienced to tackle the monitoring of such projects and progress by the politicians.

Often, in cases like this, the action remains on paper without much progress on the ground.
