DMX Got Caught On Hidden Camera

Officers of the Arizona Department of Public Safety have arrested DMX on Tuesday. The rapper-actor, whose real name is Earl Simmons, has been charged with the following from an incident on January 21:

  • Highway racing
  • Driving on a suspended license
  • Reckless driving
  • Two counts of endangerment
  • Three counts of criminal speed

According to DPS, Simmons was photographed by stationary traffic cameras positioned along the Loop 101 freeway in Scottsdale, Arizona. The cameras showed him driving a bright yellow 1966 Chevy Nova II — with a large “DMX” label decorated across the windshield — going over the 65 mph speed limit not once but three times.

At approximately 8:24pm, there was a picture of DMX driving 100 mph, and 114 mph the next minute. Less than three minutes later, there was another picture of him driving 101 mph.

Not long after, the DPS began an investigation of Simmons’ driving habits, and there was enough evidence to arrest him in his Phoenix home. The DPS stated that he cooperated with the arresting officers, and booking took place inside the Scottsdale City Jail. Simmons later posted bail and has been released from jail.

“This is an important arrest” stated Roger Vanderpool, director of Arizona’s DPS. “Criminal speeding endangers the lives of everyone on the road. [Simmons] wasn’t singled out because of his notoriety. We have made several arrests in the last few months of those who flagrantly violate the speed limit and therefore endanger the lives of everyone else on the road.”

Tuesday’s arrest has been the latest of DMX’s several troubles with the Copper State justice system. Late last summer, deputies from the Maricopa County sheriff’s office raided his home in Cave Creek, Arizona, and detained a dozen pit bulls there. Officials stated that the animals were malnourished and were living in inhumane conditions. During the time of the raid, police also found a big supply of weapons in his home, and in the backyard, police dug up the burned remains of at least one dog. But so far, DMX hasn’t been charged with any crime connected with that.
