Bruce Springsteen Fans Join Forces To Give Him His First UK Number 1

It is barely six months since the power of social network site Facebook was used to bring The X Factor’s UK Christmas Number 1 reign to an end. Now once again it seems that music fans, this time of Bruce Springsteen, are once again out to get their own way in which song is at number 1 on Sunday 22nd August to celebrate the song’s 35th anniversary.

The Make Born To Run Uk Number 1 group on Facebook only began its quest last week to bring Springsteen’s classic anthem to the UK charts, and possibly give the Boss his first UK Number 1 single on it’s 35th year anniversary, and it has already garnered over 500 followers.

Springsteen first rose to fame with the Born To Run album in 1975, and reached worldwide superstardom with the 1984 Born in The USA. After a reunion with his backing group and onstage family, The E Street Band, at the turn of the Millennium, Springsteen has continued to release hit albums, fight for the common man, and perform some of the greatest rock and roll concerts ever seen which often run at over three hours long. Not bad for a man just turned sixty.

But throughout his career, a number one single in the UK has eluded him. Dancing in the Dark brought him close in the eighties, and the powerful Streets of Philadelphia brought him to number 2 in the charts in 1995.

Around the same time as the campaign’s attack on the charts, Springsteen releases a DVD of his critically acclaimed Hyde Park Festival appearance from last summer.

Whether the social network drive can succeed a second time is still to be seen, but if any fans have the belief and power to make it work it is those of the only man would could be The Boss.
