What makes it a superfood? Mangoes have a high concentration of chemicals called polyphenols, which have anti-inflammatory properties.

The Study and Results

One recent study by researchers at Texas A&M University tested the potential benefits of those polyphenols by giving both lean and obese respondents 400 grams of fresh-frozen mango pulp every day for 42 days.

The results are quite amazing!

The study found that that lean subjects saw a decrease in blood pressure. For the obese individuals, the researchers observed improved levels of hemoglobin A1c, which is associated with a lower risk for diabetes.

In addition, the researchers found a positive change in the gut microbiota of the obese respondents. This is a good outcome, as it can lead to improved absorption of nutrients and boost metabolism.

Polyphenols are not only found in mangoes but also other healthy fruits, such as berries, pomegranates, and citrus fruits.
