There are many Indian restaurants in Los Angeles. However, there is no Indian Mexican Fusion cuisine that I have seen until now, except at Indimex Eats.
Faruque Sarker, the owner, a quiet unassuming gentleman, knows his spices and the kind of food to prepare it with. He believes in preparing everything from scratch without any preservatives.
That is a good choice for health-conscious people, where all California seems to be on a health kick.
The most popular item on the menu is a burrito prepared with a choice of chicken, lamb, or beef, with basmati rice, house chutney, a spicy salsa, and a masala sauce sizzle with black beans, onions bell pepper, tomatoes, and cilantro. This entree in itself is so filling, that I had no room for other tasty dishes.
I did partake in the lentil soup which had a light flavor, with carrots and spices. Other items to indulge in are 18 different kinds of breads, bbq tandoori sizzlers, vegetable curries, and meat curries.
The most popular items are the Chicken Tikka Masala, Beef or Lamb or Shrimp Korma to mention a couple. These are prepared in the Tandori oven and served sizzling hot on a bed of onions and fresh lemon with mint chutney. Spices are added to light, mild and hot at your choice.
Health Benefits of IndiMex Eats Cuisine
Tumeric, ginger, garlic, cinnamon, cardamom, clove, cassia bark for Mughiai Curry, black pepper, cumin, coriander, used in Tikka Masala, nutmeg and mace used for Massaman Curry with Beef, mustard seeds, fenugreek saffron, which by the way is the most expensive spice which is the stigma of crocus flowers and is picked by hand. Safron is used in mango Lassi, a frozen Yogurt with Pistachio Biscotti Bits.
A lot of spices that are excellent for one’s health, especially when cuisine is prepared fresh and not from a can or frozen food.
Desserts
Common deserts throughout India are Kheer, which is rice pudding, Gulab Jamon, homemade cheese balls in honey syrup, and traditional Baklava, which are crispy layers of flaky sweet desert with a mixture of nuts.
With all the stuffing of these deserts, my favorite drink is Guava juice and Mango Lassi, which comes as a berry lassi.
