The Fremont Street Experience was the setting for their Elvis Tribute Artist Competition recently. While there I enjoyed 18 different Elvis tribute artist sing their hearts out. Harry Shahoian the tribute Elvis in the Legends show opened the show, while Robbie Howard and Marva Scott emceed the event. On Saturday Chad Collins won the competition and received $2500.00, where he will be able to compete in Graceland for the chance to win $25,000.00.
After all that great entertainment, it was time for some authentic Italian cuisine. That’s when I became acquainted with Chris Colby, the general manager of Luna Rossa. Luna Rossa is part of decades of family tradition in Italy and adheres to all its employees as family. I asked Chris Colby who is also was trained as a classic pianist, what makes a successful restaurant. “The staff must respect the owner and the guest and the manager must respect the staff.”

That’s exactly why all Luna Restaurants are popular throughout California and Las Vegas.
Executive Chef, Giovanni Tufaro originates from Naples, Italy and has been cooking for over 40 years. Chef Tufaro uses “Cupati” flour 00 from Naples, Italy, also using Roma tomatoes for that deep red sauce taste and mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
The particular pizza I enjoyed was the Luna Rossa, which consists of tomato sauce, mozzarella, mushrooms, black olives and mixed vegetables. For those who are vegetarians there’s Ms. Bixel’s Gluten free flour which is a light dough and an excellent way for diabetic to enjoy pizza.

Some of the dishes which Luna Rosa are famous for is, their breakfast specials which include Eggs Benedict, Eggs Benedict Florentine and their two eggs any style with Applewood smoke bacon. Meanwhile, their main dishes consist of Petto Di Pollo ai Funghi, [chicken breast in Marsala and mushroom sauce with vegetable and potato], Rigatoni con Salsiccia [Tube pasta sauteed with Italian sausage, bell peppers, and onion in tomato sauce].
My favorite dish was the risotto in a vodka pink sauce, which is Gluten free. The chef also prepares it with jumbo shrimp or chicken. Since I’m not a meat eater, I can only suggest by the people I’ve spoken to that the meatballs are prepared with Parmesan and a touch of bread. It’s a coastal style.

Deserts: I think we all have a moment or two where we enjoy deserts. Chef Giovani Tufaro prepares his Tiramisu from mascarpone and Lavada espresso in a deep dish rather then the normal squares restaurants serve. This is definitely the best Tiramisu I’ve tasted.
Breakfast: Luna Rosa serves a great breakfast. Specialties include Blueberry Pancakes, Eggs Benedict, Eggs Benedict Florentine with exciting items such as two eggs any style with Applewood smoke bacon and an array of brick oven pizzas.
Conclusion: Chris Colby the Luna Rossa manager and his staff, especially Executive Chef Giovanni Tufaro, are awarded 4 stars by Celebrity Scene News, [celebrityscene.com] for their excellent service and their imported ingredients used in their preparation of cuisine, which is innovative, in a contemporary atmosphere.
So, what are you waiting for, make your plans to visit The Fremont Experience and dine family style at Luna Rossa. Tell them Pete sent ya!
