Tyler Perry continues to be blessed and reaping the rewards that has been given to him, with Forbes naming him the highest-paid man in Hollywood. This year, the actor/writer/producer/director took in an estimated $130 million dollars thanks to Madea, and his popular sitcoms House of Payne and Meet the Browns, both of which airs on TBS, and can also be seen in reruns on syndication.
His next show, For Better Or Worse, premieres on TBS in November to succeed House of Payne, which will come to an end after seven successful seasons and 222 episodes. Given an order of 10 episodes, it will be based on the hit play and film adaptation Why Did I Get Married? and its successful follow-up, Why Did I Get Married Too? So far, Perry’s movies have grossed half a billion dollars worldwide.
Completing the Top 10 are Sir Elton John ($100 million), Simon Cowell ($90 million), author James Patterson ($84 million), Dr. Phil McGraw ($80 million), Leonardo DiCarpio ($77 million), radio shock jock Howard Stern ($76 million), and Tiger Woods ($75 million).
Perry’s upcoming films include the romantic comedy Good Deeds with Gabrielle Union and Thandie Newton (he is also writer, producer, and director), and the film adaptation of Patterson’s I, Alex Cross with Perry taking over for Oscar winner Morgan Freeman as the titular detective/psychologist. Both are set to come out next year.
