Artist / Writer King Nazir Muhammad has released what he says is the first known depiction of the god ( Allah ).
This historical collectors item is available at the online art gallery. Out of respect for the Muslim faith, which forbids the creation of images of Allah, Muhammad uses the acronym A.L.L.A.H in his depiction.
Muhammad also states in the description of this piece that it is not to be considered an Idol but a “Murti.” In the Hindu belief, a Murti is simply an Image of a deity to be used as a focal point for meditation or prayer.
Asked about how this idea for a murti came about, Muhammad said “A.L.L.A.H revealed himself to me in this image as a means to strengthen my belief.”
A murti is known by some as a representation of a Divine Spirit, merely a means of communication with the god.
Wikipedia has a good explanation of murti: “A murti is a means of communication with the god or Brahman in Hinduism. Murti is a Sanskrit term which is meant to point to the transcendent ‘otherness’ of the divine; therefore the word ‘murti’ cannot be substituted with or translated as statue or idol without losing the underlying concept’s inherent meaning and taking on unrelated connotations.”
Original copies of King Nazir Muhammad’s work are available online now but Muhammad says 3D versions are coming soon. He says the 3D versions look very cool.
