For the fourth year in a row, IT expert Dave Slon of DataTamer has earned the Best of Los Angeles Award. The Best of Los Angeles award is conferred through The Best of Los Angeles Facebook group, reportedly comprised of nearly 4,000 members. Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in the News

The Academy Foundation of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today recipients of its 2018 FilmCraft and FilmWatch grants. In addition to the 51 FilmCraft and FilmWatch grants awarded, the grants committee set aside $15,000 to help with the recovery efforts at three international archives devastated by hurricanes and earthquakes in 2017. Those archives are; Cinemateca de Cuba in Cuba, Permanencia Voluntaria in Mexico, and Archivo de Imagenes en Movimiento in Puerto Rico. This funding is in addition to support and expertise already being provided by the Academy Film Archive.

High Winds in Malibu Knock out Power

High winds reportedly knocked out phone service to at least one or more areas businesses in Malibu yesterday Thursday, The Hollywood Sentinel reports.

Buffer Festival

As digital content reportedly rises in viewership, Buffer Festival L.A. is announces that their opening lineup contains some record-breaking artists. Their line up reportedly includes: Musician Jon Cozart, Comedian Elle Mills, Sexologist Shan Boodram, Comedian Gus Johnson, and Filmmakers Anna Akana, Dom Fera, Nicola Foti, and TimH, among more. Buffer Festival L.A. will be held on Thursday, May 17th at the Ricardo Montalban Theatre in Hollywood. The schedule includes an Insight Series from 12pm-5pm, a Meet & Greet Red Carpet from 6:00pm-6:30pm, and World Premiere Screenings from 7pm-10pm.
