Besides The Expendables 2, Hollywood action heroes Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger is going to have another thing in common.
Skip Woods, who penned the script for A Good Day to Die Hard, is also going to write the screenplay for Black Sands with the former Governator set to star in, according to Deadline, who calls it Man on Fire meets High Plains Drifter. In it, Arnold will be cast as “a loner who wages war against a ruthless weapons manufacturer and his private army in the Southwest.”
The film will be financed by Bill Block’s QED, the same company responsible for Cry Macho, which was supposed to be one of Arnold’s first leading roles since completing his two terms as Governor of California. If given the greenlight, production on Black Sands could start on April 1, 2012.
For now, Arnold will be back as mercenary Trent Mauser in The Expendables 2, which comes out August 17, 2012, and will follow that up with The Last Stand, which will be released on January 18, 2013.
