Today, actress Amanda K. Hootman, 24, shared about her running for health, fun and charities!
LOCATION OF MARATHON
The Walt Disney World Marathon in Orlando, Fla., held earlier in the month, was something Hootman had been planning for a long time. This event was first run in January 1994, at which more than 7,000 runners started. The 2013 event included the Marathon, a Half Marathon, a 5K event, and the Goofy Challenge.
BEFORE THE RUN
Hootman was very busy before she began the run.
“I had little time, in between rehearsals and the production, to run on UK soil in preparing for the marathon that would soon take place across the pond!”
HOOTMAN AS AN ACTRESS
Amanda K. Hootman is a Guilford School of Acting graduate. She is also an award-winning actress and singer who took on the challenge of running this marathon, a charity run at that!
EXCUSES
Hootman, with being overseas, working, packing, moving and readying for the marathon had what some might think were good “excuses” NOT to run.
However, she was a trooper, and like in show biz she knew “the race must go on!”
IN SPITE OF THE ODDS
“The Walt Disney World Marathon was an amazing experience. In spite of the odds that were stacked against me I enjoyed every minute of it. I can’t say for sure if I would have had the same success in another marathon.”
“I think the magic of Disney kept me going,” she said.
