WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, 39-year-old Australian, was
in a U.K. court Tuesday as he continued his fight to avoid extradition to Sweden.
He took photos outside London’s high security Belmarsh magistrates’ court, but didn’t say a word before entering the building with his lawyer, Mark Stephens, for a procedural hearing.
Assange contradicts the assertions against him, and the hearing was over quickly.
Assange has to report to police daily, wear an electronic monitoring device and stay at the manor of one of his supporters outside London as part of his bail conditions.
“We are happy about today’s outcome,” Assange after his court appearance.
WikiLeaks’ work continues “unabated,” noting that the organization is “stepping up our publishing for matters related to Cablegate and other materials,” Assange explained.
Assange mentioned Tuesday that more documents will be appearing shortly with the help of newspaper partners around the world.
