Terrorist Threats, Recovery of Improvised Explosive Devices in Folsom

On February 2nd 2008, at approximately 4:38 PM, Folsom Police were contacted by an individual reporting they had been receiving threats from individuals since January 3rd, 2008.

While investigating the terrorist threats report, Folsom Police observed a black Ford Mustang, previously identified as a vehicle of interest, driving reckless in the area of Iron Point Rd and Folsom Blvd.

Inside the vehicle officers located a destructive device and approximately 100 feet of fuse material. The driver of the vehicle, Tyree James Martin, 9-11-89, of Folsom, was arrested for possession of a destructive device (a felony), possession of a dangerous firework without a permit (a misdemeanor) and possession of an open container (a misdemeanor).

A search warrant was issued for Suspect Martin’s residence, along the 800 block of Sibley Street, where detectives recovered a pipe bomb. Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department EOD Unit assisted in disabling the pipe bomb.

Also arrested was Justin Paul Mandich, 11-12-89, of Folsom who was found to be in possession of two small improvised explosive devices.
