Shia LaBeouf was injured in a car crash yesterday and arrested on the suspicion of drunk driving. He was trying to make a left turn onto West Hollywood Blvd. around 3 a.m. when his pickup truck crashed into another vehicle, leading LaBeouf’s truck to rolled over — causing injuries of his head, left hand and knee; his female passenger and the other driver weren’t seriously injured
Following his booking for misdemeanor DUI, the Transformers and Indiana Jones star has been released and admitted at Cedars-Sinai Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries — including surgery for his hand.
His rep gave the following statement:
“Attorneys for Mr. LaBeouf confirm that an automobile accident involving an additional party occured…. Shia is currently recovering from extensive hand surgery with plans to return to work on the set of Transformers 2 within one month. No furher comment will be issued at this time.”
His mother spoke to E! News today that Shia is in recovery, but will be okay. A very emotional Shayna LaBeouf compliments the public for their concern of her 22-year-old son.
“Thank you, thank you” she said with tears.
LaBeouf is expected to miss the shooting of Transformers 2 for a month while recuperating from his surgery, and is due in court in August to face up to the misdemeanor DUI charge that results from the accident.
