S-VOX Foundation Names Andrea Nemtin to Serve as Executive Director and CEO

Toronto, Ontario (RPRN) – S-VOX Foundation welcomes Andrea Nemtin as its Executive Director and CEO. Nemtin will assume her new role in August 2011 translating S-VOX Foundation’s newly established vision and mission into the organization’s strategic and operational plans.

As a federally incorporated registered charity, S-VOX operated Vision TV: Canada’s Faith Network/Reseau Religieux Canadien. After the sale of Vision TV in 2010, S-VOX’s Board of Directors undertook to use the funds from the sale to continue the organization’s original vision not as a broadcast vehicle, but as a public foundation. S-VOX Foundation’s vision is to support spiritual understanding, respect and engagement by providing tools to educate Canadian youth about faith communities, religious and spiritual heritages, and the right of Canadians to freedom of conscience and religion.

“I deeply believe in the importance of diversity of cultures and beliefs,” said Andrea Nemtin. “What we believe is at the core of our identity, it affects our relationships with our society, our community, our friends and family, and our relationship with ourselves in very profound ways. I’m excited to be working with S-VOX’s Board and staff to fulfill this amazing vision of understanding, respect and engagement.”

Andrea Nemtin is a social entrepreneur with over 15 years experience in leadership positions and an active participant in the charitable sector. As President and CEO of PTV Productions since 1995, Nemtin created and managed relationships with Canadian and International broadcast partners, government organizations and NGO’s including Heritage Canada Foundation, Faith and Values Media, and the International Federation of Red Cross. Nemtin became a leader in multi platform storytelling, as PTV Productions created award-winning projects that went beyond the broadcasts establishing the company as a respected diverse & innovative producer of documentaries, web sites and digital media. Nemtin has been chair of the Abilities Arts Festival, an executive board member of Hot Docs, the past national chair of the Documentary Organization of Canada, a member of the CFTPA, WIFT and the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television.

S-VOX Foundation is dedicated to supporting Canadians, and in particular young Canadian adults, in their spiritual exploration by developing and providing the resources necessary to create acceptance, inclusion and engagement among individuals, organizations and communities. With a focus on faith, belief in pluralism as a fundamental Canadian value will be core to the work of the Foundation. S-VOX will achieve its mission and objectives by funding initiatives that primarily make use of the power of existing and emerging communications technologies as the key drivers of change and as a means to achieve its goals.

“Our board searched for a leader comfortable with positive change and risk,” said Dale Godsoe, Board Chair, S-VOX Foundation. We wanted a leader who understood and believed in the power of media to create fundamental change for good in society and in the lives of young Canadians, as well as change founded in a passionate belief in Canadian pluralism. Andrea Nemtin is that person.”
