BTI Systems, producer of intelligent packet optical networking for metropolitan networks, is globally expanding its engineering, research and development functions. This is made possible under the leadership of Mike Grady, BTI’s newly-named Senior Vice President of Engineering. The expansion is aligned to support the BTI Systems broadening product portfolio. It will also ensure the delivery of innovative solutions for its global customer base, which includes more than 300 of the world’s largest service providers, competitive operators and content delivery networks.
Included in BTI Systems‘ R&D expansion is the creation of a Verification Center of Excellence in the Optical Valley Square in Wuhan, China. The Center is tasked with testing and verification of BTI Systems’ broad range of packet optical networking solutions. The Wuhan location addition complements its existing APAC operations in Shanghai, Malaysia and Singapore, along with sales and support activities in several other countries across the region.
BTI Systems existing R&D Centers of Excellence in Belfast and Boston are also expanding. The company is adding personnel in Belfast, where engineers focus on developing tools for intelligent service creation.
Also, BTI System’s engineering team at the company headquarters in Ottawa is also expanding its staff to ensure delivery of its broader solutions portfolio. Grady is leading the company’s forward-thinking efforts around emerging technologies and will play a role in the long-term direction of BTI Systems’ R&D efforts in delivering metro service and content delivery solutions to its customers.
“BTI Systems is poised to accelerate service creation and content delivery in the metro and these changes ensure we have global, best-in-class engineering support for our customers,” said Mike Grady.
Steven Waszak, BTI System’s President and CEO, said that the expansion is focused on the needs of BTI System’s customers worldwide. “We are committed to building a global business capitalizing on broadband growth in metro networks, with a global engineering platform of top talent in key markets near our customers,” said Waszak. “Mike’s operational leadership and vision of our consolidated engineering efforts is a powerful combination that enhances the strength of our senior leadership team ensuring we deliver ongoing innovation, long-term value to our worldwide customers and market leadership.”
Mike Grady brings more than 30 years of engineering and engineering management experience, including a variety of senior management roles, worldwide responsibilities and experience with industry leaders, Reva Systems, Argon Networks, Bay Networks and Wellfleet Communications. Grady holds a bachelor’s degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
