$100K Reward for Older Citizen to Move to Pittsburgh

A civic group will pay $100,000 to lure an older applicant to Pittsburgh which has long suffered from a reputation as a dirty, dusty blue collar steel mill town, today’s Pittsburgh is actually a vibrant and highly livable city ranked among the top in the U.S. and the world.

The high ranking isn’t just a flash in the pan – Pittsburgh has consistently ranked among the livability leaders for years in Forbes: http://www.forbes.com/2010/04/29/cities-livable-pittsburgh-lifestyle-real-estate-top-ten-jobs-crime-income.html.

And Businessweek has given Pittsburgh a rising world ranking as 49th (2006) and 52nd (2007) among the top 100 most livable cities in the world. Only one U.S. city ranked higher in the Businessweek study – Louisville, KY.

Because adding active seniors to a community’s population is expected to lead to a general economic improvement in the area, Experienced Dreamers LLC., a group interested in promoting Pittsburgh, PA as a great place for older couples to retire to or start a business, announced a $100,000 prize to the family or individual they select if they will move to the city.

Experienceddreamers.org, in partnership with many civic organizations and trusts, including the Bhul Foundation and the Heinz Endowment, is interested in getting older people to consider Pittsburgh as a business or retirement location instead of the more traditional Sun Belt region.

Contest rules are simple – just explain why you want to move to Pittsburgh and how that will help you further your dream. To qualify you must be a permanent U.S. resident or citizen age 45 or older living outside a 100-mile radius of downtown.

Next April, Experienced Dreamers LLC will select one winner from entries submitted by December 16, 2011.
