Michael Cutler on MSNBC To Discuss Murder of Border Patrol Agent

I am scheduled to appear on Dylan Ratigan’s show on MSNBC Monday morning for a discussion about the murder of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Robert Rosas.

According to the most recent news reports, four suspects have been arrested in connection with this murder and they were purportedly identified as being involved in alien smuggling.

My brief segment is scheduled to run between 10:00 AM and 10:30 AM Eastern Daylight Savings Time.

Considering the level of extreme violence especially in many areas of the border region that is supposed to separate the United States from Mexico, it is in my judgement absolutely unconscionable that Border Patrol agents would ride “solo” and wind up making arrests without an adequate number of fellow agents backing them up! The oath that Border Patrol agents take should not be a suicide pact!

The murder was apparently carried out by smugglers. It must be realized that all too often alien smugglers are also involved in smuggling narcotics. Many of these smugglers in this day and age are involved, directly or indirectly, with the drug cartels and other criminal organizations.

Constant messages are sent out by the President and leaders in both houses of Congress by members of both political parties, that an amnesty for the millions of illegal aliens is all but a foregone conclusion. Demand for the services of the smugglers is elevated by aliens who have come to expect that once they come to the United States they will not be arrested and will be able to remain until such amnesty is enacted.

Consider if you will, the statements of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that arresting illegal aliens is “Un-American!”.

Furthermore, the current healthcare package that is being considered on Capitol Hill would provide health care insurance to millions of illegal aliens!

Meanwhile it is interesting to note that the immigration laws of the United States makes it a felony for anyone to induce, or encourage aliens to enter our country and/or reside in the United States in violation of law! (Title 8 of the United States Code, Section 1324.)

I would suggest that when political “leaders” promote an ill-conceived program to provide illegal aliens with health care and amnesty they are, in a very real way, inducing and encouraging many illegal aliens to seek to enter our nation in violation of our borders and our nation’s laws.

As I have often noted, the difference between an immigrant and an illegal alien is the equivalent of the difference between a houseguest and a burglar.

Consequently, to my thinking, providing lawful status and, indeed, United States citizenship to illegal aliens is the equivalent of providing a burglar with a key to the front door of our homes!

During the Bush administration I was called to testify about the fact that while Congress had authorized the funds for the administration to hire 800 new special agents for ICE and 2,000 new Border Patrol agents. The Bush administration slashed those numbers to hire a mere 143 new ICE agents and 210 Border Patrol agents.

Here is the link to the transcript of that hearing.

By not having an adequate number of ICE agents and support personnel to effectively enforce the immigration laws from within the interior of the United States, aliens are further encouraged to seek out the services of alien smugglers.

Today ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) agents are told not to arrest illegal aliens when they conduct investigations of employers who hire illegal aliens. Those investigations are focused entirely on the employers and the illegal aliens are all but sacrosanct! Many years ago, INS agents would generally focus all of their attention on the illegal aliens and, unless there were extenuating circumstances, would all but ignore the employers of those illegal aliens.

As I have often noted, the relationship between employers and illegal aliens is comparable to the relationship between “johns” and hookers.

In order to be successful in conducting those investigations the agents must go after both the employers and the illegal aliens!

One final thought – when aliens are smuggled into the United States they may well be solely motivated by a desire to accept unlawful employment or they may have more sinister intentions.

Aliens who evade the inspections process are not the equivalent of motorists who fail to pay a toll before driving across a toll bridge. The inspections process is supposed to keep aliens out of our country whose presence in our country would have a deleterious impact on our nation and our citizens.

Certainly illegal aliens who accept illegal employment are a concern, but additionally, there are those illegal aliens who enter our country without being inspected because they have criminal histories or may have been previously deported from the United States.

Such aliens may be involved in various criminal activities including gang members and individuals who are affiliated with the extremely violent drug cartels of Mexico, Colombia and other countries. Other such illegal aliens may be directly or indirectly affiliated with terrorist organizations.

Clearly alien smuggling involves violence – violence committed against the smuggled aliens and potentially violence committed against our valiant law enforcement officers who stand watch on our nation’s borders.

I hope you will be watching the program.
