Google Ocean Search Tool Locates Atlantis

A report in The Daily Telegraph says a “grid of streets” on the seabed at one of the locations suspected of being the lost city of Atlantis, has been discovered on Google Ocean.

Google Ocean is an extension of Google Earth.

The British Newspaper says a 38 year-old British man from Chester, Bernie Bamford, noticed the grid pattern on the ocean floor and compared it to a map of Milton Keynes, a grid-mapped city between Chester and London.

The ancient Greek philosopher Plato described the island of Atlantis, but since it had sunk beneath the sea, its exact location was unknown. The area pointed out by Bamford is one of the possible locations suspected of being Atlantis.

The legendary sunken island of Atlantis was mentioned in Timaeus and Critias, two of Plato’s dialogues, which were conversations between Socrates, Hermocrates, Timeaus, and Critias. These are the only existing written records that refer to Atlantis specifically.

Apparently, there was conflict between ancient Athenians and Atlantians, 9,000 years before Plato. Atlantis was unknown in Plato’s time, around 400 BC.

Like a party game where friends pass a message on, Egyptian priests told the story of Atlantis to Solon, one of the Greek “Seven Wise Men,” around 600BC. Solon passed it on to Dropides, Critias’ great-grandfather. Dropides told his son, Critias and he passed it to his son, also called Critias and this is how Plato came to write about it.

It remains to be seen whether the grid pattern at 31 15’15.53N 24 15’30.53W is Atlantis or if it is a rock formation.
