Crossfire War – TEHRAN WATCH – Middle East Theatre – Tel Aviv: Tehran – Beirut – Damascus/Jerusalem; Hezbollah to Warn Tel Aviv of Major Missile Attack – 500 Missiles to be Launched
Night Watch: TEHRAN – According to the Palestinian news service Ma’an hundreds of heavy missiles are to be launched on Tel Aviv but Hezbollah will first give a warning to the residents to evacuate. “Hassan Nasrallah will address the people of Tel Aviv and warn them to evacuate the city within one hour. As soon as the delay ends, hundreds of heavy missiles will start landing in the city, which has been divided into squares in order to let damage reach every inch of the city. An estimated 500 missiles are expected to land in Tel Aviv in a short period of time.” [IRNA]
The missile involved is probably the Zalzal-2 which military analysts have called an updated Scud, similar to the one that hit Israel, launched from Iraq during the Gulf War 1990-91. Some missed and others had dud warheads, nearly a third. The range however is closer this time, barely more than a hundred miles and there may be a chance, since their trajectory is higher, for Israel’s Arrow missile to intercept some of them. The Patriot missile batteries the U. S. sent to Israel were originally designed to intercept enemy aircraft which is why the warhead exploded just behind the Scud during the Gulf War and are therefore not effective against incoming missiles. However they will be effective against enemy aircraft.
As crossfirewar.com has stated constantly this is a war Tehran prepared and one they and Damasus are ready to enter. It is no conicidence Hamas-Hezbollah increased their attacks just one month after Damascus-Tehran signed their Mutual Defence Pact in Tehran last month. That’s why it is useless to compare this war with the October war of 1973. Tehran is the difference. The missile onslaught will be praised by Tehran and celebrated all over the entire Islamic world from Morocco to Indonesia, further inflaming the anti-Israel demonstrations there already taking place.
Israel will respond with an allout invasion of Lebanon including the use of nuclear weapons. The first target will probably be the underground bunker of Hassan Nasrallah and the Hezbollah leadership in northern Lebanon in Hermel along Syria’s border. Israel will also probably target Hezbollah supplies coming in from Syria including on Iranian passenger flights at Damacus’ international airport drawing Iran-Syria into the conflict as Tehran intended.
