Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Not Exclusive to Next Gen Consoles

Call of Duty: Black Ops was going to be a ground breaking game for the next generation consoles of Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and the PC.

However, Activision has announced that the game will also be available for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles when it is released this November.

This is very shocking to many gamers who expected the game only for the next gen systems. There are many gamers who invest solely in these consoles believing that this will be the only alternative to pay the newest games.

There are many technical differences between the old and next generation consoles. Due to this there will also be many differences between the games depending on what console they are on.

For Xbox 360 and PS4 users, Activision is hoping that the campaign mode will be a two player cooperative play while for next gen users it will be a four player cooperative campaign.

Activision announced that the only beta of the game that will be released prior to the official release will be for the next gen consoles of Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and the PC.

This news brings up some issues for gamers, especially those that invested in the new consoles. One has to worry if making material for the old systems is taking away from the work that could be invested in the next gen consoles.

There is no question that if the game developers did not have to focus on making a game for inferior systems such as Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, they could be instead investing even more of their time making even more ground breaking changes for next gen systems.

Successful technology revolves around being adaptable and effective in the future. Videogames have been successful at showing gamers where technology is currently at and furthermore, where it can go.

For Activision to create games for any inferior system is extremely detrimental as the company is finding ways to step back into the past rather than progressing into the future.
