The Hugh Pool Experience @ Hill Country

You may have to fly to California to witness the sounding of the bells as the swallows return to Capistrano. You may want to make a pilgrimage to the Holy Land for that old-time religious experience. But when you need to get back to your music roots with some new fascination tossed in all at once, it is time for the heart-bounding, foot-stomping Hugh Pool Band’s Improve mix of “Blues and Bulleit Rye Rock.”

While Hugh makes the Blues Harp and steel guitar sing, crisp and solid, the incomparable Barry Harrison accompanies on drums along with Bass Master Admir Hadziae. The band gets busy. The air starts vibrating. And when that feel-good music hits the crowd like a whirlwind, it curls a smile on faces, heads bob and feet tap.

The Hugh Pool Band @ Hill Country

Last night, New York City’s Hill Country Barbecue Market hosted the band so the main course included knock-out tunes along with Texas Style Barbecued Ribs, chicken, sausage, and turkey, and don’t forget the skillet cornbread and baked beans, oh my! And along with a brew, you could have a Hill Country gal serve up some banana cream pudding to finish up the set.

The Hugh Pool Band does quite a bit of international travel, but since they are based in New York and Hugh also owns Excello Recording Studio in Williamsburg Brooklyn, you can keep track and catch future gigs:

And as Hugh might say, “Come on down to see the show, and even if you can’t, come anyway.”
