Romney Campaign is Out of Touch With The People

A Rare Glimpse Into The Inside World

Romney’s comments recently at a dinner party with donors gave a rare glimpse into the inside world of the ruling elite. His words demonstrated the total lack of concern or understanding for common man. People across the country on both sides of the isle are up in arms over these callous comments.

It is hard to believe in a post-economic meltdown world that followed the Bush administration’s failed policies that resulted in the crashing of the world financial system, that there are still those in the country that would get us back on the road that led us there in the first place. Trickle-down economics doesn’t work, and it hasn’t worked.

A Change of Plan

It is time for a change of plan; the American people have a right to it. The only reason the top two percent cling to the failed economic policies of the past is because they have been the only ones in the country to benefit from these archaic cold war ideals.

Romney’s 47 percent speech is a rare look into the truth about how the ruling elite view us common folk. Romney said “There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it – that that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what. … These are people who pay no income tax. … [M]y job is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”

“Spoiled Rich Kid Syndrome”

It is chilling to see just how completely full of it some politicians are, Mitt Romney has worked hard to negate accusations of “spoiled rich kid syndrome” and of being out of touch with the American people. If the above comments aren’t proof enough of his overwhelming ignorance and apathy with regards to the American public, a recent comment made on ABC news offers even greater insight.

When George Stephanopoulos interviewed Romney, he attempted to define the American middle class. “Middle income,” he said, “is $200,000 to $250,000 and less.” In all actuality, however, a yearly salary of $200,000-$250,000 is in the top 2% to 3% of American incomes. Romney makes about 350k a year in speaking engagements, this small percentage of his income alone put him in the top 2 percent. “Middle income,” at present, is really somewhere between $30,000 and $100,000 [1], a long way off from Romney’s $250K.

Our Current System of Government

In times like these, I wonder what the founding fathers would think of our current system of government. Well here is what one founding father thought, “God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion.”

“The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. … And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.”
