The Sun Has A Permanent Date With Humanity

The sun comes up every day to light up the world.

Sometimes its rays need to penetrate through the clouds behind which it hides. No matter what, the sun brightly shines the world.

The Sun’s Creation

Scientifically, the sun was created approximately 4.6 billion years ago from the gravitational collapse of matter within a regional of a large molecular cloud.

Biblically, the sun was created on the fourth day of the biblical creation account as is told in Genesis 1:16-19. On this day, God created the sun, moon and the stars. constellations to give light on the earth and govern the day and night. This day of creation, which involved the creating light, is often referred to as the greater light.

Daylight Extended

In some countries the sunlight’s days spread over a long period of time during the summer days; to mention Norway, a country that experiences continuous daylight from mid-April through the August month, particularly in regions like Svalbard and thus received the moniker the Land of Midnight Sun.

Reykjavík, Iceland, enjoys nearly 24 hours of daylight during the summer, with only a few hours of twilight; Northern Sweden experiences around 56 days of continuous daylight in summer, with Kiruna being a hotspot for this phenomenon while Lapland, Finland, stretches days with 24-hours of sunshine for over two months during summer.

USA, Fairbanks, Alaska, offers continuous daylight for a full month during the summer solstice, making a prime destination for a midnight Sun.

All these locations are characterized by their proximity to the Arctic Circle, where the Earth’s tilt creates extended periods of daylight.

The ‘Polar Night’ Dark Days

The Polar Night occurs in regions located above the Arctic Circle and below the Antarctic Circle, where the sun remains below the horizon for extended periods, typically lasting from several days to several months. During this time, areas experience varying degrees of twilight but no direct sunlight.

Polar Night Notable Locations

Norway, Finland, and parts of Alaska experience the Polar Night Phenomenon, with prolonged periods without sunlight, particularly during the winter months.

Tromsø city, Norway, experiences polar night from late November to mid-January, where the dun does not rise at all during this period. However, keep in mind this story’s header, the sun’s rays are always there no matter if they are hidden or not.

Towns like Rovaniemi, in Northern Finland, particularly in Lapland, experience polar night, where the sun does not rise for above 51 days during winter; Utqiagvik, formally known as Barrow, the state of Alaska’s northmost town, experiences around 67 days of darkness during the winter months polar night.

Darkness And Lightness Summation

While no entire country is devoid of year-round sunlight, specific regions within countries like Norway, Finland, and Alaska experience significant periods without direct sunlight during the winter months. This phenomenon is the result of the Earth’s axial tilt and its orbit around the sun, leading to unique environmental and cultural adaptations in these areas.

No matter what, one should continue keeping in mind this story’s header, the sun’s rays are always there no matter if are hidden or not!

Depressed And Alcoholism Problem

Years back, while in Sweden, I met a local lady at a hotel bar. She confessed to me that the darkness period makes her countrymen depressed.

With time officially changed and darkness creeping in, it’s hard not to get depressed and sad. And you know why, because the sun’s rays brighten one’s life and spread rays of hope. This causes these countries’ countrymen to seek the sun in sun stroked countries.

The dark days’ seasonal blues make the world’s sunny spots a magnet for the darkness-stricken countries, such as Spain’s glorious vacation beaches, the Greek Islands, the Mediterranean beaches, Israel’s popular white sand beaches and of course Florida, to name a few.

All these sun blessed destinations are favored for their beautiful beaches, cultural experiences, and overall vacationing experiences.

We know that the sun’s rays are always there to spread the light of health and hope, permanently shining on creation and brightening the world.

Sometimes the short period of darkness is simply a façade to the magnificent and permanent light that is spread by the sun.
