Augustana Steals David Letterman’s Heart Away

David Letterman just wrapped up The Late Show with Augustana, the great band from San Diego, California. The band played “Steal Your Heart.” See it on the video below.

Fronted by vocalist and lyricist Daniel Layus, Augustana released their eagerly awaited self-titled third album last month on Epic Records.

Augustana are known for “emotionally resonant, rootsy pop/rock,” and both the album and the performance on Letterman were true to form. The album was recorded in Los Angeles with Grammy-Award-winning producer-engineer Jacquire King.

The album reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. It also spawned two Top 40 hits, “Stars and Boulevards” and “Boston,” which was certified digital platinum.

It is a jet-setting week for the band. Tonight, they play at Theater of the Living Arts, in Philadelphia, PA, then Rams Head Live in Baltimore and House of Blues in Boston.

Their major-label debut, in 2005, was All The Stars and Boulevards.

The band’s follow-up, 2008’s Can’t Love, Can’t Hurt spawned the singles “Sweet and Low,” and “I Still Ain’t Over You.”

Augustana is currently touring the US with The Maine in support of the release. The tour kicked off on May 12th in Dallas, TX and will wrap up in San Diego on June 17th.
