The Culling Process

A friend of mine just returned home from a safari in Africa where he bagged four trophy specimens. In deference to my aversion to killing helpless animals, he defended his hunting experience as a mission of culling out the weak, the diseased, and the aged. That doesn’t say very much about the quality of the trophies that will eventually hang on a wall in his house staring with glass eyes at old, weak, and diseased human visitors like me admiring the success of my friend’s low tech tracking and killing techniques!

As we briefly conversed about the violence in Africa, Israel, and Asia, I glimpsed the parallelism between hunting animals and hunting terrorists. Both humane activities can be justified as culling out undesirables. That statement may seem harsh, it may lack compassion for the unfortunate, but it recognizes the universal Law of the Jungle, which, like the Law of Gravity, cannot ever be transgressed. The Law of the Jungle dictates that the fittest will survive. The “fittest” of course are the best hunters with the most advanced technology at their disposal: four-wheel-drive vehicles, high-powered rifles with scopes, and satellite-connected locating devices.

A war is a human culling enterprise which endeavors to eliminate the most unwanted people at a reasonable cost. Whether a war is defensive, offensive, or merely preemptory, it is an efficient way of culling overpopulated animal species: humans, farm animals, and uncooperative savages. As concerned humans under the constant threat of being culled by the Grim Reaper, we resist being disposed of as long as possible in our country with the aid of Medicare and the help of the caring pharmaceutical industry with their over-priced legal drugs.

Getting rid of an excess of illegal immigrants has proved to be a thorny problem that no government, Republican or Democrat, has been able to handle. The migration of nomads in many places is a common social solution undertaken to evade the culling process. However, it has created ghetto groups of undesirable newcomers in many countries of our overpopulated planet.

Many sensitive people who have never seen the inside of a hospital operating room or the local slaughterhouse or visited a war zone are shocked when they witness the killing process on TV. These modern folks don’t understand that the culling process goes on daily in America and in all the other civilized countries of the world.

I must admit that ending a life can be a painful experience especially for executed criminals and those senior citizens with physical ailments who consider themselves “too young to die.” But it is the prescribed way to conserve limited natural resources. Culling in all its various forms was devised by the Omniscient Designer of the universe and subsequently implemented on Day One by the “maker of those things that make other things!”

Observe for example what goes on in one small country in the Near East: the pious Jews are obeying Jehovah by clinging to that garden spot of the world. Likewise, the devout Muslims who pray much more often than the Jews are being guided by their mullahs who are supposedly in contact with Allah to recover that same parcel of land. Local politics are very complicated in any sophisticated human environment, and divine politics are totally beyond our primitive human comprehension.

The culling process must go on, trophies must be secured, and the fittest must survive! The elimination of the excess members of the human race will be accomplished one way or another.
