Northern California Blues Festival Returns for 2010

After many successful years of building the modest Fair Oaks Blues in the Park into the well respected Northern California Blues Festival, Matson Breakey has decided to move on to other pursuits. Matson is now working with Jason Haxton Productions and the other sponsors to carry on the tradition of this exciting festival.

To ensure the festival lives up to the standards we have all come to appreciate and enjoy, Matson is providing support to Jason Haxton Productions (JHP), Keep Smilin’ Promotions and Music Matters. The organizers, along with additional sponsors including the Sacramento Blues Society, announced the return of the Northern California Blues Festival in the summer of 2010!

The Northern California Blues Festival is a first class family friendly event dedicated to bringing the best in the Blues to you while raising money for local charities. This year’s event will benefit the Auburn Recreation Districts Youth Assistance Program, providing anonymous financial assistance to qualifying families for the purpose of enrolling their children into quality sports, arts, and educational programs offered by the District.

The 2010 festival showcases seven outstanding bands including the legendary Elvin Bishop; Zac Harmon, a world-class showman and blues master and winner of XM Radio’s Listener Favorite Award, 2004 International Blues Competition 1st Place Award Winner; Dennis Jones, voted Real Blues Magazine Best New Artist of 2009; Chris Cain, a national touring sensation & crowd favorite; Sacramento Blues Revue, a local favorite and SAMMIE award winning band; as well as regional powerhouses of blues, Volker Strifler and Kay Bohler.

Festival gates open at noon and the last notes from the stage will ring out at 10PM. To make the event friendly and fun for the entire family, there will be a free Kids Zone, complete with inflatable water rides to keep the kids cool, and climbing structures to keep them challenged.

The Northern California Blues Festival is an all day festival and fundraiser for Auburn Recreation District Youth Assistance Fund. There is Live Music by Regional and National acts, including Elvin Bishop, Zac Harmon, and Chris Cain, plus great food, and local arts and crafts.

The location for this year’s event is Auburn Recreation Districts Regional Park, 3770 Richardson Drive, Auburn, CA 95603, just off Highway 49 and Dry Creek Rd. Tickets are $30 per person, on the day of event, or discounted to $25 when purchased in advance, $5 for children 12 and under.
